A Tribute to Kristi, Caroline, and Marta VanderMaas

It has been two weeks on February 13 that we enjoyed the company of the other half of the VanderMaas family. I tell you, it has been very impressive watching Kristi operate her double stroller (with at least 40 lbs in it) maneuver around Bogota. The side walks here are nothing like the side walks in Michigan. They are uneven, some have broken bricks, and the curbs can be close to a foot tall. Watching Kristi pop the front wheels up to get the stroller over the curb while traffic rapidly approaches can be nail biting at times (that is if you bite your nails). I would dare say that her upper body strength has improved at least a 1/2 grade according to PT manual muscle test standards! Truly impressive!

We will miss Caroline with her articulate Spanish and rapidly improving English. Her cute smile and giggles. Her calling for Jacob to jugar with her.

And Marta....you cannot forget about Marta. Dinner time is not the same without Marta! Dave thoroughly enjoyed watching Kristi feed Marta! She becomes a different kiddo at the table.

She would also frequently visit our room. She wanted to be included with skype calls and when Dave, Jacob, and Luciana were playing on the bed.

She also liked to get into our closet.

Thank you Kristi for a fun two weeks. We are excited that you are now reunited with the rest of your family. Dave and I will miss your companionship and Jacob will miss his new little spanish speaking amiga!
